Salt Lake County Active Aging

Location: Throughout SL County

Description: The Active Aging program is dedicated to helping senior citizens live an active, healthy, and fun life. Volunteers greet and orient program participants, offer clerical support, and help to increase public awareness and participation at local senior centers. Health promotion volunteers can also help teach senior citizens about healthy behaviors through a variety of classes and settings.

International Rescue Committee (IRC)

Location: Throughout Salt Lake County

Description: The IRC helps individuals affected by humanitarian crises to survive, recover, and rebuild their lives. They focus on providing health care, helping children learn, and empowering individuals and communities to become self-reliant. Individual volunteer opportunities are updated and listed on their webpage, and include opportunities such as youth mentoring, family support, and health access volunteers

Ronald McDonald House

Location: Downtown SLC and Primary Children’s Hospital

Description: The Ronald McDonald House’s mission is to provide families without support to be near to and care for their ill or injured child. They provide a home-away-from-home to ease daily burdens and empower families who have children currently hospitalized. Individual volunteer opportunities include options such as an inspiration station volunteer (example: leading crafts or a dance class), administrative projects, and community events.

Dance Class for Low Income Kids

  • Location: Various Schools in Orem

  • Description: We love kids! We want all children to have the chance to enjoy the arts weekly in a no-cost, fun format.

You can help in a way you choose:

* Teach (choreograph if desired)

* Assist a teacher

* Coordinate from home

* Solely choreograph from home, if preferred

* Teach art or music

* Donate materials or sew costumes

We offer classes (most types) to elementary-age kids in low income areas.

If you are great with kids, we'd love to have you.

Volunteer weekly--any weekday between 3-5 p.m. Come help kids learn dance, find their creativity, and enjoy life. Sign up if you'd like to help. Please call Stacilee at 801-787-0149 if you have questions


 

National Ability Center
