This MOVE Basic Provider Training is a two-day comprehensive (12 contact hours), certificated program specifically designed for occupational and physical therapy practitioners working with individuals with disabilities in schools or the community. The MOVE program provides opportunities for individuals to increase mobility skills in sitting, standing, walking, and transitioning while participating in activities of daily living.

- Importance of using the Top-Down Motor Milestone Test (TDMMT) and data collection

Course Instructors
Katie Madigan has a Bachelor’s Degree in Physical Therapy from Russell Sage College. She has been with the Center for Disability Services since 1996. She began her career at the Center providing services to infants and preschoolers through the Early Intervention Program before moving to Clover Patch Preschool. Katie has been a MOVE International Trainer since 2014.
Gillian Reid has a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from SUNY Albany and AAS Occupational Therapy Assistant from Maria College. She has been working at the Center for Disability Services since 2008 across the preschool, school aged, and adult programs. Gillian was trained as a MOVE International Trainer in 2016. She is the MOVE Coordinator for the Kevin G Langan School in Albany and both Glenville and Albany Clover Patch Preschool programs. Gillian is a National trainer for MOVE International.

How can I include my physical therapy counterpart?
Since the MOVE program emphasizes close collaboration between therapy providers, occupational therapy practitioners are encouraged to include their physical therapy colleagues in this training. A UOTA member may purchase one physical therapy (PT or PTA) registration at the current UOTA member price when purchasing their registration.
Can occupational therapy students attend?
Current occupational therapy students who are attending an OTA or entry-level OT program may attend this training at the student rate. Contact the Continuing Education Chair, Travis Chamberlain, OTD, OTR/L at Travis.Chamberlain@Utah.edu to get the coupon code for the student rate. Please note that there are only 5 tickets available at this rate so that UOTA can offer the lowest possible price.
