President's Message
Hello UOTA members,
It is an honor to address you as President of Utah Occupational Therapy Association (UOTA). Many have served the association and community here in Utah and I appreciate the hard work, dedication, and compassion of all those who have paved the way for how we practice in Utah today. I am grateful for the opportunity to give back a little bit and to continue the efforts of these great people.
The UOTA is a volunteer-run organization. It is through volunteer efforts that UOTA represents the needs of OT practitioners in the state and advocates for our best interests concerning legislation and policies that govern and protect the way we practice occupational therapy in Utah. This ultimately affects the way we serve our community here in Utah, and we need each other. Our strength lies in the many talents of our members, and the collective efforts we make together as colleagues. I encourage you to join in these efforts—to share your talents while you gain the skills and develop the long-lasting friendships that are inherent in the process.
“Volunteers do not necessarily have the time; they have the heart.” Elizabeth Andrew
I have found this to be true as I have gotten to know other OT practitioners, especially those who serve in UOTA capacities. There are many opportunities to serve, and most do not require a lot of time—just heart. Again, I want to extend my gratitude for the efforts of the outgoing and current UOTA officers and volunteers. I also express my appreciation for your support. I look forward to all the things we will accomplish together moving forward, and I invite you to join us!
